Magnolia House Veterinary Clinic

Why should you entrust the care of your pets to Magnolia House Veterinary Clinic? Excellent question!

We can meet your pet's every need, from the first puppy or kitten (and bunny or gecko!) health check, through preventative care, to the most complicated investigation and treatment when they are unwell. We have the advanced facilities and expert knowledge you may expect from a much larger practice, and yet our small size allows us to retain the friendly, comfortable, and caring atmosphere we are known for.

We do not take our clients for granted. To us, you are not just a number, you and your pets are members of the Magnolia House family, and we shall always do our best to get to know you individually, to address all your concerns, and to provide you with the highest standard of service and medical care.

We have an integrative approach to veterinary care - we consider the pet as a whole when approaching its problem, including its environment, diet, and lifestyle. Our treatment recommendations include diet changes and supplements where appropriate, and aim to minimise any complications or side-effects.

Our vets are amongst the most highly qualified in Dorset:

  • Dalya holds the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, and is one of only 4 vets in the UK with these two qualifications
  • Dalya has been awarded RCVS Advanced Practitioner Status for both Anaesthesia and Small Animal medicine, the only vet in the UK.
  • Dalya holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Pain Management, and has undergone extensive acupuncture training in the USA.
  • Stan has passed the ESVPS Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice Exam, and has published journal articles on exotic species

We believe in no hidden fees - if we estimate you £54 for a cat spay surgery, this includes everything - nose to tail health check before surgery, general anaesthesia with comprehensive vital sign monitoring (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, ECG, temperature, dedicated nurse), plenty of pain relief on the day, pain relief to go home with for a few days, buster collar just in case, and post-op checks until the wound has completely healed. Any anticipated additional costs are always discussed up front, and we are always happy to provide you with written estimates if required.

We offer reduced consult fees for repeat prescription exams, follow up exams, and for senior citizens.

We offer free consults for first puppy and kitten health checks, pre-neuter health checks, free post-op checks, free dental checks, free exams for purposes of buying flea/worm medication, and free weight checks.

We have an in-house referral team:

  • our vets' expertise allows us to treat many cases that would otherwise have to be referred for specialist care
  • Stan provides a second opinion and a referral service for all exotic species
  • Dalya provides second opinions and referrals in all aspects of internal medicine (including ultrasound and chemotherapy)
  • Dalya also accepts referrals to our pain clinic, and runs anaesthesia training seminars for vets and nurses

We employ friendly staff with a genuine love of animals, who are always ready to help you.

Our clinic facilities include:

  • Longer consults, which allow us plenty of time to discuss all your concerns
  • On-site laboratory, which gives us same-day results for many blood tests, faecal tests, and skin parasite exams
  • Sterile operating theatre with state-of-the-art anaesthesia monitoring
  • X-rays, ultrasound, and endoscopy which allows for comprehensive investigation and diagnosis of the trickiest of cases
  • Ultrasonic dental machine
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) to help us investigate heart disease and abnormal heart rhythms
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Separate dog and cat hospitalisation/day wards minimise stress to our patients
  • Temperature-controlled vivarium for hospitalisation of exotic species
  • Isolation ward allows us to prevent spread of contagious diseases within the surgery
